Provider Profile: Delivery Measures

The Provider Profile provides physicians and midwives at Island Health individual access to data related to their patient population and specific measures related to dimensions of quality.

Department specific measures are available for in-patient maternity care Providers, known as Delivery Providers in the Provider Profile. These evidence-based measures were chosen by the Departments of Obstetrics and Midwifery as relevant to clinical care. Data can be filtered by most responsible provider (MRP) and Intervention Provider (Provider present at delivery), acknowledging that the physician providing care at delivery may not be the MRP.

As with the Core Quality Metrics, Delivery Providers can view the Hospital Harm Indicators in the patients they have been linked to by clicking on the Hospital Harms details box on the Provider Profile in the metrics summary section.

Using Your Provider Profile to Drive Improvement

Measures are provided as a focus for quality improvement (QI) and continuing professional development (CPD). By reviewing individual quality measures and comparing against departmental averages, delivery providers can identify areas for improvement, engage in reflective practice, and participate in individual or team-based QI. This approach can enhance patient care and contribute to earning CPD credits through programs like The College of Family Physicians of Canada Maintenance of Proficiency (Mainpro+) program and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada's Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program.

You can learn more about how to use the Provider Profile for CPD and QI by visiting the “Provider Profile: Measures for Improvement” page.
