The Communication, Education and Development team plays a key role in enhancing medical staff communication and engagement. Responsibilities include oversight of all medical staff communications channels. The team supports medical staff through new medical leader onboarding, education, and development. The team also supports physicians providing rural and remote care through educational and funding opportunities.
Main Functions of the Communication, Education & Development team
- Medical Staff Communication

- Our team creates and maintains effective and transparent content for all medical staff communications channels, including the medical staff website, the monthly medical staff newsletter (the Bulletin), Medical Staff Forums, as well as Vice President and Executive memos. We also assist Departments, Divisions, and other units within Medical and Academic Affairs in planning and broadcasting their communications to targeted medical staff audiences.
- Orientation for New Medical Leaders

- The Communication, Education and Development team helps new medical leaders navigate their roles though a series of virtual orientation and onboarding presentations delivered by medical leadership.
- Rural Programs

The Communication, Education and Development team works in partnership with the Rural Coordination Centre of British Columbia (RCCBC) to deliver rural programming for medical staff. The Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME) community program funding provides funding and resources to groups of local physicians in eligible Rural Practice Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) communities to address their community education needs.
- The Rural Retention Program (RRP) offers a set of retention benefits paid to physicians working in eligible communities covered under the RSA.
- Northern and Isolation Travel Assistance Outreach Program (NITAOP) - Provides funding for travel expenses and travel time honouraria.
- RCME (individual program) provides funding for education directly to eligible physicians through their health authority.
