Clinical Trials Improve the Safety and Effectiveness of Intensive Care for Patients
Island Health is taking part in a clinical trial to study whether a different fluid (KiteLock Sterile Locking Solution™) is safer and better at keeping central intravenous lines or central venous access devices free from blockages and infections. If study results show that KiteLock is better than saline, this research will inform practice at Island Health and across the country.

Island Health expands access to mental health and substance use counselling
Residents of Vancouver Island living with moderate mental health and substance use challenges now have improved access to publicly-funded, community-based counselling through the addition or expansion of partnerships with 11 counselling service providers, which will collectively have capacity to meet the counselling needs of at least 1,500 clients each year.

PRIME site registration and user enrolment webinars for Physicians
There will be two webinars, on June 20 and 22, 2023, to help people navigate the user enrolment and site registration processes. Both sessions will be recorded and posted on the PRIME webpage for those who cannot attend in person. There are also resources and webinar background materials available online, and the PRIME support team is available to help.

Island Health riders log more than 1,000 trips and 15,000 kilometres in the saddle for Spring GBBW
There is still time to log your rides for the Spring 2023 Go By Bike Week, but the numbers are looking pretty good following the May 29th-June 4th event. At Island Health so far, 44 teams including 287 riders have logged 1,026 trips and 15,747 kilometres, burning 472,424 calories and saving an estimated 3,414 kilograms worth of Green House Gases (GHGs).
