Funding for Leadership Development 

SSC Leadership Training Scholarship

To support physicians in the development of their leadership and quality improvement skills, the Specialist Services Committee (SSC) in partnership with the Shared Care Committee (SCC) who supports family doctors provides scholarship funding available each fiscal year (April 1 - March 31). Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME) Community Program

The Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME) Community Program makes funds available to groups of physicians living and delivering care in Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) communities, to address their collective learning needs. The program aims to improve the capacity of local health care systems to address the needs of community members by giving physicians more control over collective learning activities, reducing the challenges of accessing funds, and improving relationships among health system partners.  To learn more about this program, click HERE 

Doctor of BC Continuing Medical Education Fund

The Continuing Medical Education (CME) Fund is an annual benefit that assists non-salaried physicians with educational expenses. The maximum 2022 CME benefit is $2,200. To learn more about this fund, click HERE 

Rural Leadership Development Program by Rural Coordination Centre of BC

The purpose of the Rural Leadership Development Program is to increase opportunities for rural physicians to pursue leadership training and develop the skills and abilities to help bring system improvements that will benefit British Columbia's rural populations. In addition to access to a formalized leadership program, participants will be offered a mentoring opportunity with a rural leader through UBC CPD'S Rural Physician Mentoring Program. Rural Global Health Partnership Initiative (RGHPI) by Rural Coordination Centre of BC



This initiative supports projects spearheaded by rural BC physicians or medical trainees and their partners based in underserved communities in BC, other parts of Canada, or internationally. To learn more about this initiative, click HERE

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Midwives



Midwives are able to apply through the Midwives Association of British Columbia (MABC) for funding reimbursement for the pursuit of CME/CPD activities ($500/year). In addition, the MABC also offers $5,000 leadership bursaries to five successful applicants every year. The information regarding MABC programs is available on the member-only MABC site and is distributed to the membership in their monthly memo. To login, click HERE
