Where are you on the Journey of Cultural Safety?
The first step towards your Cultural Safety learning journey needs to begin with critical self-reflection so you may bring that self-awareness to all your formal courses. There are a variety of formats within Island Health to build your understanding of Cultural Safety and Indigenous specific racism including; reading, online courses, in-person sessions, relationship-building, personal development and hearing from communities.

British Columbia began licensing NPs in 2005 as part of Primary Health Care Reform and in just 16 years on Vancouver Island, the NP community has grown to over 120 NPs, ensuring patients have more access to primary care providers. 74 NPs are employed by Island Health and work up and down our beautiful Island.
Child Care Survey: Next Steps
This past July, the Health Human Resources (HHR) Sustainability Initiative surveyed Island Health about current and future child care needs. The survey was geared towards those interested in onsite and/or after-hours child care. Island Health employees, medical staff, volunteers and contractors who currently have tiny humans in child care, or who will need child care over the next few years, were asked to complete the survey.

Good Call Action Series
Have you ever wanted to improve the "on-call" experience? You can! Join the Good Call Action Series January-May 2023 with 3-7 interdisciplinary team members who are involved in making and receiving calls. Up to 6 hours of sessional payments available for physicians completing activities outside of clinical hours.
