Updated Emerging Pathogen and Pandemic Plan
Island Health has recently updated its Emerging Pathogen and Pandemic Plan (EPPP). The purpose of this plan is to create a comprehensive, coordinated approach to managing infectious disease emergencies and ultimately aims to reduce severe illness and deaths. Preliminary data from the BC Coroners Service shows that communities throughout the province continue to be devastated by deaths due to unregulated drugs, with 814 lives lost in the first four months of 2023.

Victoria Hospitals Foundation Donors Raise $10 Million and Complete Emerge Stronger Campaign
The Victoria Hospitals Foundation (VHF) has announced the completion of the Emerge Stronger campaign, a $10 million commitment for Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH), Victoria General Hospital (VGH), and Gorge Road Hospital (GRH). Over 5,800 donors came together to support the funding of over 200 pieces of equipment and innovative research projects over the course of 18 months.
