Transformations in Triage at Saanich Peninsula Hospital
About one year ago, the SPH ER team began evaluating access and efficiency of patient flow through the department, motivating the team to undertake a thorough evaluation of their triage process with a specific focus on assessment and initiation of ECGs. Quality Improvement Consultants, Don Khullar and Marcia Pilon, collaborated with a dedicated site team at SPH to meticulously analyze every stage of the patient journey, from arrival to discharge, pinpointing for bottlenecks and inefficiencies in patient flow processes.
Super-user physicians help peers adapt the EHR to their needs
There were 32 resident physicians, from numerous regions, using their familiarity with EHR to support staff and medical staff through the transition.

On June 15th, Saanich Peninsula Hospital celebrated 50 years. The day was highlighted with a special ceremony that included the unveiling of a Land Acknowledgement plaque.

CPOE at Royal Jubilee: How it’s going one week in
Since fully activating the electronic health record (EHR) at Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH) June 8, medical staff have been getting used to a new set of tools to assist them with computerized provider order entry (CPOE) and management. The overall feeling so far is that of “increasing confidence”, according to Associate Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Eric Shafonsky.
The Campbell River Primary Care Access Clinic is Open
The new clinic is in the administration building on the North Island Hospital grounds in Campbell River. There is a dedicated health-care team including a physician or nurse practitioner, registered nurses, and a medical office assistant.
