Retiring: Sharon Torgerson, VP People
After seven years with Island Health, as Vice President – People, and for the past six months as Executive Business Lead for the provincial Human Capital Management System (HCMS) project, Sharon Torgerson has shared with me her plans to retire at the end of June.

Congratulations to Dr. Ramm Hering
We are pleased to announce Dr. Ramm Hering has assumed the role of Division Head for the new Division of Addiction Medicine (AM) in the Department of Medicine. He will work in this medical leadership role alongside Executive Medical Director, Dr Ashley Heaslip and Medical Director, Dr. Randal Mason in the Addiction Medicine & Substance Use program (AMSU).

Rural Physicians Gain Advanced Point of Care Ultrasound Certification
20 Physicians from Duncan, Port Hardy, and Port McNeill have become certified independent practitioners in CPOCUS Resuscitation, an advanced curriculum in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). The intensive course ran from April 14 to 17 in Cowichan Bay and was delivered by Prairie POCUS with national ultrasound experts instructing.
