Revision to Obstetrical Order Sets
As part of the Order Set Harmonization (OSH) Project, a suite of Obstetrical order sets have been revised to meet SOGC, and PSBC clinical practice guidelines and recommendations. These changes have been in place at our CPOE sites (NRGH and VGH) for 6 months, and they are now being released to paper-based sites.
New Patient Safety Learning System (PSLS) is Live
A new cloud-based Patient Safety Learning System (PSLS) has been deployed across Island Health as of March 1, 2025, replacing the old web-based system. Island Health is the third health authority in BC to use this new PSLS. Northern Health has been using it since March 5, 2024, and Interior Health since November 1, 2024.

New Order Set: High Dose Suboxone Induction for OUD
Use of high dose inductions aims for quicker saturation of mu-opioid receptors in order to optimize buprenorphine’s partial agonist effects and reduce opioid withdrawal symptoms. This induction method is suitable for patients who have undergone a full opioid reversal with naloxone in the past two hours (without receiving opioids since the reversal), or for patients with high opioid tolerance who would typically receive a traditional induction.
