When donning and doffing PPE it is important do the steps in the correct order to minimize the risk of contaminating yourself or others.
As with all clinical skills, it is important to take time to review the donning and doffing process from time-to-time to ensure we are following best practice. At any time, your department can request to have an Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) come and provide staff with in-person PPE training. There may be times or circumstances when staff need to access training resources when an ICP is unavailable, and for those instances Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) has online resources staff can access.
The below online resources can be found on the IPAC Intranet website under 'Education: Outbreak Prevention, Response and Management':
Further resources are available on the IPAC Intranet website under 'Resources':

Did you know? IPAC does not select and order PPE for Island health. IPAC's role is to provide staff education about PPE donning and doffing to ensure it is used appropriately as a preventative measure to reduce the spread of hospital acquired infection. Please refer to PHSA Supply Chain information on the Intranet if you have concerns about PPE products available in Island Health.
