The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive primary care services to members of Malahat Nation within a community-based health setting. This includes health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions, and coordination of care with internal and external providers.

The role emphasizes culturally safe, trauma-informed, and patient-centered care, with a focus on building long-term therapeutic relationships. The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to support community wellness initiatives and improve health outcomes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing comprehensive primary care across the lifespan
  • Managing acute and chronic health conditions
  • Prescribing medications and ordering/interpreting diagnostic tests
  • Supporting preventative care and health education
  • Collaborating with community health staff and external partners (e.g., Island Health, FNHA)
  • Contributing to culturally appropriate care planning and service delivery

This position offers a reduced caseload, allowing for meaningful patient engagement and high-quality care.

Benefits
May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:

  • Recruitment Incentive: $10,000 (full-time)
  • Relocation Costs Reimbursement: up to $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
  • Fee Premium: 4.20%
  • Annual Flat Fee: $6,508.80
  • Rural CME: starting at $2,200.00/annum in year 3 & 4 to a maximum of $4,400.00/annum after 4 years.

Malahat Nation represents approximately 350+ members with two reserve lands located on the western shore of Saanich Inlet, just south of Mill Bay and approximately 40 km north of Victoria, British Columbia.
