The Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) Department of Laboratory Medicine is seeking applications for Temporary positions for Anatomical Pathologists. General Pathologists may also be considered for this temporary opportunity; however, applicants should be aware all of the work will be in anatomical pathology.
Based in the North Island you will work with a team in the hospital environment, sharing knowledge and collaborating to ensure seamless pathology services within the community and within the Department of Laboratory Medicine as a whole.
A typical week for a physician would include providing the following direct services:
- Surgical Pathology (including Frozen Sections/Intraoperative Consultations), Cytology, and hospital autopsy services.
- Working with a pathology assistant to provide oversight and guidance for the grossing of large surgical specimens.
Both Hospitals on North Vancouver Island has a broad range of consultants including Internal Medicine, Intensive Care, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Otolaryngology, Radiology and Family Medicine.

- FRCPC in Anatomical Pathology or General Pathology
- Full Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
