The Island Health Department of Medical Imaging in Duncan is seeking a full time Radiologist to join the team at Cowichan District Hospital (CDH). With the new hospital planned to open in 2027 and a significant expansion of medical imaging services underway, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and optimization of both a new hospital and its imaging department.
The new Medical Imaging department will feature modern, expanded diagnostic capabilities, including a Magnetom Flow Elite MRI, two CT scanners, four General Radiology suites, two Fluoroscopy rooms with four recovery bays, two Mammography units, a Bone Densitometry unit, and nine Diagnostic Ultrasound rooms. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join the department during an exciting period of growth and help shape the delivery of imaging services within a new facility designed to meet the evolving needs of the Cowichan Valley.
The successful candidate will have proficiency in CT, US, MRI, Mammography, Fluoroscopy and basic interventional procedures as well as:
- Flexibility, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work harmoniously with and contribute to a small group practice of 7 Radiologist.
- Willingness to share in administrative roles and future leadership of the group.
- Interest in living in the local island community.
- Training in or a willingness to train in CT Cardiac Coronary Angiography and CT Colonography.
- Preference for lifestyle based practice, with abundant vacation time and flexibility, but willingness to increase workload as needed.

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement(RSA) including:
- relocation cost reimbursements to a maximum of $15,000;
- recruitment incentive $10,000
- Fee Premium 4.20%
- Annual flat fee $6,508.80
Rural CME starting at $3,000/annum in years 3 &4 increasing to a maximum of $6,000/annum after 4 years.
