Family Practice opportunity to join another full-time physician in the Mayne Island Health Clinic, that provides rural primary care services to the residents of Mayne Island. The clinic is supported by MOAs; a part time RN, virtual mental health and substance use counselling, Home Care, and Palliative Care RN and LPN with the Community Health Services Team. 

In this position, you will join another physician and RN in a modern, well-equipped clinic with an Accuro EMR. The clinic is part of a Health Centre that includes a community nurse, public health visits, laboratory collection, physiotherapist, massage therapist, mental health counsellor and community volunteer program. You have the opportunity to build a schedule that suits your lifestyle and allows for quality time with your family and access to all of the amazing recreational opportunities at your doorstep.

While meeting patient needs, there is flexibility to establish clinic hours and workdays that align with your own practice model. On-call responsibilities are light and shared 1:4 with colleagues on Pender and Galiano Islands.

There is a 1.0 FTE APP service contract available that provides remuneration for family practice services and urgent emergent care at the clinic. Physician commitment is flexible for this position from part time to full time. 

The Physician will work in the clinic, with the support of the MOAs, providing primary care as well respond to Emergencies if necessary for occasional BCAS calls. There will be ample orientation days with the currently practicing Physician. 

Clinic Description
Our medical clinic provides a modern and bright clinical environment including medical practitioner’s offices and exam rooms, a fully equipped by Island Health Treatment Room, medication samples and beautiful reception area. Heli- pad and BCAS on site for medical emergencies. Transfer is from 20-40 minutes by air or water ambulance 1-2 h to Victoria hospitals tertiary care. 

Emergency Framework

BCAS - Paramedics through 911, volunteer First Responders. Fully supplied and equipped Emergency Treatment Room. Patients requiring urgent transfer are triaged and taken by water taxi or helicopter.

Call Expectations: 
There will be evening/overnight on-call duties on designated dates. One weeknight overnight on call 1700-0800 and one weekend a month. Call renumeration is via the MOCAP Program

Benefits 

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including (subject to change):

• Recruitment Incentive - $15,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
• Fee Premium – 10.85%
• Annual Flat Fee - $16,814.40
• Rural CME starting at $440/annum for 2 years or less in community, increasing to $2,640 for years 3-4, and a maximum of $4,840 after 4 years.
• Rural GP Locum Program provides $996/day plus to locum physician with 38 days/annum locum coverage to resident physician.
