Violence Prevention Training for Medical Staff

 

The Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum:

Awareness is growing of the severe impact of violence against medical staff on their physical and psychological safety. Providing a safe workplace for everyone is a priority at Island Health.

The Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum for Physicians and medical staff (PVPC-P) training program provides medical staff with strategies to prevent and deescalate violent situations in the workplace, and help keep you and your colleagues safe.

Components of this training include:

To be completed prior to your next reappointment, or advancement from provisional to active. Please keep record of completion.

1.5 hours

1.5 MOC Section 3 Self-Assessment hours 

Required for all Medical Staff
2. PVPC-P Classroom (CURRENTLY PAUSED UNTIL MARCH 2024)

3.5 hours

Compensated at non-clinical rate.

Required for Medical Staff working in a higher risk environment*, including:

1. Emergency, Psychiatry, LTC & Neurology.

*Medical and Academic Affairs and your Medical Leadership team will support all interested medical staff to complete the 3.5 hour classroom training.
