Spreading Quality Improvement (SQI) is an initiative the Specialist Services Committee (SSC) created to spread successful SSC Quality Improvement projects to accelerate the impact and transformation of our healthcare system within the Quadruple Aim Framework. SQI offers resources (fiscal and human) to spread successful projects locally, regionally and beyond.
SQI aims to:
- Improve the way care is delivered
- Improve provider and patient satisfaction
- Reduce costs
- Improve access in our system
Through partnership with Island Health, valuable opportunities to improve relationships with operational leaders and physicians is a key enabler to successful spread.

- Project originated from an SSC initiative (Facilities Engagement, Health System Redesign, Physician Quality Improvement, Sauder Physician Leadership Program)
- Documented project change package
- Alignment with the Quadruple Aim framework and Island Health's Strategic Priorities
- Completion of Level 1 or 2 Quality Improvement training by the physician lead(s)

What SQI funding supports:

- Physician compensation at the approved JCC rate for all project related work
- Venue and catering for team meetings/events
- Travel/accommodation related to the spread project

- QI coaching and mentoring
- Physician and staff leadership
- Project coordination and support
- Marketing and communication tools
- QI education specific to spread
- Navigation of the health authority and leadership structure
Accelerator Program
Interested in potential spread but still need a bit of help getting your project ready? We want to hear from you! Apply for the SQI Accelerator Program here
Support is available for up to 6 months and includes $10,000 in funding. Program highlights:
- Support to finalize a Change Package, including scope, timelines, data, lessons learned, and Return on Investment (ROI)
- Help to build a team
- Provide QI Education (as needed)
