Staff Influenza and COVID-19 Immunizations Clinics
Fall is immunization time! The Health, Wellness, Safety, and Ability Management department is working with Heart Pharmacy to provide immunization clinics for Island Health employees, physicians, volunteers and students. This year, we will be offering Influenza (flu) and COVID-19 vaccines and we encourage everyone to get vaccinated to increase protection and reduce transmission.

Research Funding Opportunities for Rural Physicians
Two programs funded by the Rural Coordination Centre of BC are currtently accepting applications from rural physicians for 1-year projects. Awards up to $10,000 are available.
Introducing Island Health’s Climate Change and Planetary Health Strategy
Thursday, September 26 was a day of climate firsts for Island Health. More than 200 staff and medical staff attended the organization's inaugural Climate Change and Planetary Health Conference at Nanaimo's Vancouver Island Conference Centre.
All Island Health SharePoint Sites will be Migrated to SharePoint Online
The migration/transfer to Cloud Services SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams (expanded Teams capabilities) is officially here: SharePoint-Online-Logo.jpgThis move is part of Island Health's continuous dedication to improving collaboration, communication, and, most importantly, patient care.
Indigenous Self Identification (ISI) Program Expansion
Island Health will be launching the Indigenous Self-Identification (ISI) program this fall at Cormorant Island Community Health Centre, Port McNeill Hospital, Port Hardy Hospital, Campbell River Hospital, Comox Valley Hospital and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
Medical Health Officers issue pertussis vaccination reminder and treatment guidelines
In preparation for an expected increase in pertussis cases this fall, Island Health’s Medical Health Officers have issued a newsletter about the importance of vaccination for this preventable disease, as well as testing and treatment guidelines if patients present with symptoms.

In lieu of our annual virtual symposium, the Choosing Wisely Oversight Committee partnered with Environmental Sustainability to participate in Island Health’s first-ever Climate Change & Planetary Health Conference! Learn more and join our challenge to Choose Wisely for Planetary Health.
