As the province’s drug toxicity public health emergency continues into its eighth year, at least 2,272 British Columbians lost their lives to toxic drugs in 2022.

Introduction to Decriminalization in British Columbia
On January 31st, a three-year temporary exemption under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act will come into effect in BC. The exemption means people will not face criminal penalties for possessing small amounts of certain illicit drugs for personal use.

RJH- VGH passenger shuttle service returns
Effective Tuesday February 21st, Island Health will be reintroducing a passenger service. Transport will be between RJH and VGH. Passenger space is limited, as this route is primarily to support freight and lab transport. Space is on a first-come, first-served basis. Consequently, return trips cannot be guaranteed.

OneSign Tap N Go coming to VGH, GRH, SISC
Starting January 31, OneSign "Tap N Go" will be activated in computers and workstations on wheels (WoWs) across VGH, GRH and South Island Surgical Centre. This will allow medical and clinical staff to stay logged in across all the computers they work on for up to four hours, using their prox card to "tap in" and "tap out".
