Are you protected against measles?

Posted on: March 26, 2024

As we prepare for potential measles cases in Island Health, now is the time to ensure you are up-to-date with measles immunizations.

You are considered immune to measles as a healthcare worker if:

  1. Born before January 1, 1957 (very likely immune from childhood infection, if no history of measles disease or measles vaccination can receive 1 dose of MMR if choose)
  2. Born on/after January 1, 1957 AND
    • have documentation of 2 doses of a measles vaccine at 12 months of age and older and given at least 4 weeks apart OR
    • laboratory evidence of measles immunity

Immunizations are available at participating pharmacies (map) and local health units.

Vaccine eligibility for the public/your patients differs.
