Why was this project initiated?

This priority work is a response to medical staff requests to evolve our medical leadership structure and supports to better meet the existing and future needs of medical staff, medical leaders, patients, and our organization.

What is going to change?

The medical leadership strategy work will address the following priorities related to medical leadership:

  • Ensuring role clarity, fostering effective co-leadership, and improving medical staff governance.
  • Establishing clear and consistent FTE allocation and compensation policies and processes.
  • Enhancing supports such as onboarding and professional development.

Which roles are impacted?

Medical staff and Medical leaders.

How are medical staff involved in this project?         

In consultation with medical leaders, and the newly formed Medical Leadership Strategy Advisory Group, the project team will be hosting a series of design labs to help define the future state of medical leadership.

Key engagements included:

  • The Medical Leadership Advisory Committee was formed based on diversity criteria to collaborate with the project team to develop various aspects of the future state of medical leadership through time-limited dedicated design labs.
  • Continuous collaboration with medical leaders and MSA Executives throughout all phases of the work utilizing interviews and existing forums.
  • Engagements through 1:1 interviews and focus groups  to gather diverse input, including from departed medical leaders and medical staff members at large.
