Medical Director of Virtual Care - Dr. Lonn Myronuk, MD, FRCPC
I am very pleased to introduce you to Dr. Lonn Myronuk, the new Medical Director of Virtual Care.
Dr. Myronuk is a subspecialty trained and certified geriatric psychiatrist who has lived and worked in the central Vancouver Island area since 1998. He has over two decades of experience delivering virtual care to psychiatric patients across a number of technology platforms in association with the University of British Columbia and WorkSafeBC. He has experience delivering specialist services in acute care, residential care, community mental health teams, and private clinic practice settings. Dr. Myronuk has held a number of medical leadership roles in Island Health, and its predecessor the Central Vancouver Island Health Region. Since 2014 Dr Myronuk has been a physician member of the IHealth Medical Informatics team, and currently is the Physician Lead for Clinical Documentation and the Mental Health and Substance Use specialty program stream. He is currently completing a part-time Master’s degree in Health Information Science through the University of Victoria, and has published on the topic of virtual care in peer-reviewed medical literature.
Away from work, Dr Myronuk enjoys playing bass with musician friends here and on the mainland, and he considers himself a connoisseur of fine science fiction. He is grateful for the joy and love of his wife, children, grandchildren, and all his family and friends.
Dr. Myronuk will be co-leading the Virtual Care strategies and implementation with the Director of Virtual Care, Lisa Saffarek.
