Welcome Sarah Atkinson to your new position of Medical Lead/Division Head, Midwifery, Geo 4
Sarah graduated with a Bachelor of Midwifery from the University of British Columbia in 2012. Since then, she has practiced in Duncan and Victoria BC, as well as internationally with Medecins Sans Frontieres in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria, and the Central African Republic. In 2020, Sarah completed a Master in Public Health at Vrije University in the Netherlands. Sarah has now returned to Canada and rejoined The Midwives Collective in downtown Victoria.
Sarah has a passion for improving equity in sexual and reproductive health, locally as well as globally. She is committed to providing evidence-based, family-centered care to her midwifery clients and has a particular interest in working with refugee and immigrant families. Additionally, Sarah has a keen interest in implementation science and change management.
Sarah is looking forward to taking on the role of Midwifery Division Head/Medical Lead for Geography 4, and having the opportunity to support midwifery, maternity care and childbearing families in southern Vancouver Island in a new way.
