VGH Medical Device Reprocessing Department Construction Update
Construction to expand and renovate the Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD) at Victoria General Hospital (VGH) is scheduled to begin in November 2026, with work expected to continue through March 2028.
The project will take place in four phases, beginning with the relocation of a storage room to the Hospital at Home area. Subsequent phases will include the demolition of meeting rooms adjacent to the cafeteria to create a new Environmental Support Services (ESS) area, followed by the demolition of the existing ESS area to accommodate the MDRD expansion.
The final phase will involve renovations to the MDRD, with a temporary STERIS trailer installed outside to support operations during construction.
