The Workplace Culture Council (WCC) is now accepting applications for the 2027/2028 term.

We are seeking engaged employees, medical staff, and volunteers who are committed to being workplace culture champions within their teams and across Island Health. WCC members help promote organizational culture initiatives, share information with colleagues, provide feedback on emerging initiatives, and support Island Health's commitment to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and connected.

Applications are open from October 1, 2026 to November 20, 2026.

→ What is the Workplace Culture Council?

The WCC is a staff-led advisory group made up of employees, medical staff, and volunteers from across Island Health. Members provide input and recommendations on workplace culture initiatives and help strengthen awareness and engagement throughout the organization.

Membership Commitment

Term

  • Term applying for: April 6, 2027 to March 7, 2028
  • Two term maximum for appointed members, will need to reapply for 2028-2029 year.

Meeting Schedule

  • Meetings are held monthly (no meetings in August or December)
  • Meetings include a combination of virtual and in-person sessions
  • Travel expenses for approved WCC meetings and activities are covered by the WCC

Participation Expectations

Members are expected to:

  • Attend at least 75% of scheduled meetings (8 out of 10 meetings annually)
  • Act as a culture champion by sharing WCC initiatives and key messages within their teams and work areas
  • Provide feedback and perspectives that help inform workplace culture strategies and initiatives
  • Support a culture of inclusion, respect, recognition, and psychological safety
  • Commit approximately 2 to 5 hours per month, including meeting attendance and related activities

Eligibility Requirements

Before applying, please ensure that:

You are an Island Health employee, medical staff member, or volunteer 
You are interested in promoting positive workplace culture across Island Health 
You can meet the participation and attendance expectations 
You have discussed the commitment with your leader, where applicable 
You understand that leadership approval via signed is required for successful applicants to be considered.

Signed leader form sent in to WCC: By November 30, 2026

Applicants notified: By January 8, 2027

To ensure broad representation across Island Health, applications will be reviewed with consideration for geographic location, program area, professional background, and equity, diversity and inclusion perspectives. As space on the Council is limited, submitting an application does not guarantee selection.
