NDTR Notes: Alhgoh Together as One, Together as Community – Learning Opportunity

sland Health healthcare professionals are invited to explore a new accredited online learning opportunity designed to strengthen Indigenous Cultural Safety, Cultural Humility, and anti-racist practice in healthcare.

​Alhgoh Together as One, Together as Community: Pathway to Indigenous Cultural Safety is a self-paced online course developed through UBC Continuing Professional Development in collaboration with Indigenous partners. "Alhgoh" is a Dakelh word meaning together as one, together as a community, reflecting a shared commitment to relational practice, respect, and collective responsibility in health care.

Designed for busy healthcare professionals, the course can be completed at your own pace in approximately four hours and offers up to 4 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits for eligible professions, including Mainpro+ and MOC Section 3 credits.

What you'll learn

Through interactive clinical scenarios, self-reflection, and practical tools, participants will:

• Deepen their understanding of Indigenous Cultural Safety, Cultural Humility, and anti-racist practice.
• Explore how colonialism and Indigenous-specific racism continue to impact health outcomes and healthcare experiences.
• Strengthen respectful communication and relationship-building with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis patients, families, and communities.
• Apply practical strategies to create culturally safer care environments and address power imbalances in clinical practice.

Please note that this course is an optional professional development opportunity and does not replace Island Health's required Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility education.​
