Have you experienced challenges when supporting a person’s mobility independence because of safety concerns? Ethics can help!

A new ethics resource, Ethics in Motion: Supporting Power Mobility, is now available. It offers practical guidance for balancing autonomy, dignity, quality of life and safety, with an emphasis on proportionate risk assessment, harm reduction and the least restrictive approach. It also provides guidance on setting ethical boundaries in different environments and highlights the importance of shared decision-making.

Thank you to our valued partners in LTC and CHS who helped Ethics create this resource!

Check out the new resource on our intranet page Ethical Practice Learning Resources and learn how an ethical approach can support thoughtful, person-centred decisions about power mobility.

Connect with us to opt in to receive Ethics News for information about upcoming Ethics sessions and learning opportunities.

Island Health's Ethics Service can help with challenging decisions where competing values or priorities make it difficult to decide the best way to care for a patient. Ethical practice is a shared responsibility.
