High Threat Pathogen Preparedness Training

Island Health is strengthening preparedness for high threat pathogen cases in alignment with provincial guidance, WorkSafeBC requirements and BC Centre for Disease Control resources.

Initial preparedness work will focus on Emergency Department (ED) care teams at:

  • Nanaimo Regional General Hospital

  • Victoria General Hospital

  • Royal Jubilee Hospital

Current completion rates among ED physicians are low. Increasing participation is important to ensure physicians are prepared to safely care for patients requiring airborne precautions and to support continued ED operations should a high threat pathogen case present at our facilities.

Physicians working in our Emergency Departments are asked to complete all three training requirements below as soon as possible.
