A UBC research team is developing a provincial randomised trial to investigate the benefits of physical activity counselling for healthcare workers' mental health, burnout, absenteeism, and presenteeism – and they want your help.
Before the study begins, the team is looking to work with health system staff and direct/indirect care healthcare workers in diverse roles (e.g. staff providing clinical care, leadership, food services, facilities/maintenance) to do any (or all) of the following:
- Join a study Advisory Board:
- Support participant recruitment within Island Health.
- Provide in-depth feedback on study procedures and materials, including reviewing selected outcomes, recruitment materials, and burden of procedures on participants.
- Vacancies: 2-3 people
- Support training for physical activity counsellors:
- Participate in two mock counselling sessions on Zoom to support training the exercise physiologists who will be physical activity counsellors during the study AND/OR review training materials
- Vacancies: 2-3 people
- Commitment ranges between 3-5hrs

Ideal candidates to help with the pieces above are healthcare workers who currently engage in less than 60 minutes a week of planned and structured exercise outside of work.
In appreciation of time and expertise, compensation is available for those who are eligible.
