The new 90-day bed based service will be located in Parksville and support 19 beds as part of a voluntary action-based recovery model of care. Physicians can work a flexible schedule to fulfill this contract.
All patients will be connected with an interdisciplinary care team that will be located on site. Successful applicant will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning specific to the management of substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and medical conditions. They will initiate and maintain opioid agonist treatment for clients with opioid use disorder and provide medication options for those with alcohol use disorder as well as provide medication options for polysubstance use disorder including stimulants. They will review diagnostic tests, document interactions and communicate with other care providers
and participate in the evaluation of the service.
Island Health is affiliated with the UBC Faculty of Medicine Island Medical Program, and the successful candidate will be required to provide teaching and training to medical students and residents. A clinical faculty appointment at UBC will be required, and assistance in applying for a faculty appointment can be provided.

Part-time - 20 hours per week, with a mix of on-site care and telephone support throughout the week.
Hours of work - Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Benefits:
May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidy Agreement (RSA) including:
- Recruitment Incentive- $10,000 (pro rated based on FTE)
- Relocation: up to a maximum of $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
- Fee Premium- 4.62%.
- Annual Flat Fee- $7,159.68
- Rural CME starting at $3,000/annum in years 3&4, then increasing to a maximum of $6,000 after 4 years in the community.
