The five physicians of Vancouver Island's West Coast are looking to recruit a Ucluelet-based primary care physician to join our highly rewarding, multi-clinic group practice.
For the first time on the Coast, we are looking to add a primary care physician (no ER or inpatient care required!) to our group. This clinician would be based primarily in Ucluelet, with flexibility around work schedule.
The Ucluelet Medical Centre is a well-established clinic (40+ years), with a fully integrated EMR. As we are a single group of physicians, the Ucluelet Medical Centre is well connected to the other clinics on the Coast and Tofino General Hospital. It is part of our new PCN planning for the Coast, with a commitment to the strengthening team-based care. In Summer of 2025, the Ucluelet Medical Centre will move into the brand new Ucluelet Health Centre (currently being built), which will co-locate Island Health services including Mental Health, Public Health, Home and Community Care Nursing, and Rehabilitation services
We are looking for a physician with core values of collaboration, diversity, and cultural safety. We are a very collegial group, and are supported by excellent nursing and ancillary health support (rehab, MSHU, Home and Community Care) from Island Health, Nuu chah nulth (NTC) Health Services, and other community partners. We have very close relationships with our community partners, and a very active and innovative Divisions Chapter (Rural and Remote Division, Long Beach Chapter)
Benefits:
May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:
- Recruitment Incentive - $20,000;
- Relocation up to $15,000
- Fee Premium - 16.28%;
- Annual Flat Fee - $25,221.60
- Rural CME starting at $1,320 for up to two years, then increasing to $3,520/annum in years 3 and 4 in community, then increasing to a maximum of $5,720/annum after 4 years.
Community Information:
The beautiful West Coast of Vancouver Island includes the towns of Ucluelet and Tofino, and six surrounding First Nations communities. These communities are joined by the Pacific Rim National Park, and incorporate part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The region has a combined population of nearly 8,000 residents. During the tourist season, the area population increases substantially, as the West Coast incorporates some of Canada's most sought-after tourist destinations.
Offering a relaxed and rewarding West Coast lifestyle, the area boasts miles of sandy beaches and a multitude of trails through old growth forests, hot springs, and more. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy surfing, beach walking, whale watching, kayaking, fishing, hiking, and storm watching.
