The October BC Mental Health Act Infobits monthly newsletter highlights MHA educational supports, resources and provincial updates to support your practice. The topic for October

Some patients receiving treatment under the MHA may elect to request a Review Panel Hearing.
The hearing, carried out by the BC Mental Health Review Board will determine whether the patient meets the four criteria for medical certification for involuntary psychiatric treatment. This Infobits issue points to the processes and useful resources to prepare for a hearing, as well as the forms required for the purpose, including the new provincial form dedicated for patients who may choose to withdraw or postpone a hearing.
