The following has been sent on behalf of Dr. Ben Williams, Vice President Medicine, Quality and Chief Medical Executive
It is my pleasure to announce that Scott Fielding will be joining Island Health as the Executive Director for Quality, Safety and Improvement portfolio today, Monday November 22, 2021. Scott joins us from Edmonton where he has held senior executive leadership positions the most recent as Vice President of Operations, Quality and Clinical Supports at the Good Samaritan Society, which oversees 29 care homes within Alberta and British Columbia. Scott has also led the Seniors Health and Emergency Strategic Clinical Networks at Alberta Health Services. The Clinical Networks bring together a diverse group of stakeholders – clinicians, researchers, patients, families, and decision makers – to reshape and improve health care services and practices. Scott developed and implemented evidence-based improvement strategies and built key partnerships resulting in improved patient care delivery, increased patient and staff satisfaction and decreased costs across Alberta.
Scott is an established senior healthcare leader with a 30 year background in healthcare administration and operations. He holds an MBA in Business Administration from the Athabasca University and a BSC in Nursing from Central Connecticut State University. Scott will be relocating to the island in January 2022 and until that time will be working remotely from Edmonton.
In his spare time Scott enjoys riding his bike, reading, spending time with his children and their multiple sporting activities.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ainsley Young for taking on the Interim Executive Director role for the past 11 months. Under her leadership, the portfolio has continued to advance quality and safety, support new and improved quality structures, and provide new supports to staff all during a pandemic with many portfolio members reassigned to work on pandemic priorities.
Please join me in welcoming Scott to Island Health.
