Snow Rides Available Once Again

Posted on: November 28, 2022

There is a snowfall warning for Vancouver Island and Greater Victoria. The Vancouver Island Toyota 4 x 4 Club has once again offered to help those stuck in the snow. These amazingsnow pic.jpg people have been an incredible help in past wintery weather, providing dozens of rides to and from work, at locations from Campbell River to Victoria.

They have members as far north as Port Hardy and the ride is completely free of charge!

Here's how it works:

Log on to Facebook and request to join the VI Toyota 4x4 & VIHA Staff Transportation page. Provide the pertinent information (where you live, where and what time you work).

Club members will contact you if they can help! If you aren't on Facebook, you can ask a family member or colleague to request a ride on your behalf and help you make arrangements.

This Facebook page is for ride coordination only. If you are not able to attend work, please communicate this through your normal process.

In addition, if you have your own 4x4, and have room to pick someone up on your way in, or on your way home, you may create your own post and offer your services – and thank you! If you are driving, please read more information about winter driving safety here

Please remember, the Snow Ride program is not operated by Island Health. It is a service offered and operated by the Vancouver Island Toyota 4X4 Club, and is not an Island Health program. Staff using this service – or car-pooling with colleagues – do so at their own risk.

Please ask your driver if they would like you to wear a mask. Also consider  a donation to help their volunteer drivers with fuel and other costs.
