Expressions of interest for Health Quality BC's Learning about Opioid Use Disorder in the Emergency Department (LOUD in the ED) Collaborative are still open! We are especially encouraging people working with EDs to fill out the short EOI form and help champion this work. Funding is available to participate.
What This Opportunity Looks Like
LOUD in the ED aims to improve opioid use disorder care. You're invited to help co-develop resources and tools and spread effective practices in EDs across Island Health with support from Addiction Medicine & Substance Use and HQBC. You can participate in any of the four workstreams:
- Opioid Agonist Therapy in the ED
- Efficient & Effective Learning
- Team Growth with Peer Support Workers
- Warm Handoff Care Transitions (ED-to-community)
Once you submit an EOI, you'll be invited to a one-on-one call with HQBC to explore which area(s) of work you're interested in. Participation could include:
- Engaging through one-to-one meetings or group brainstorming sessions to share experience and knowledge;
- Being part of a working group that co-develops new tools or processes that will be spread to EDs across Island Health and BC;
- Joining an action team that will help implement quality improvement changes in your ED.
No matter what area of work you engage in, you will be supported through collaboration, coaching, peer-to-peer learning, and embedded measurement.
Who Can Join LOUD in the ED?
We are looking for a variety of people from regional leadership to point-of-care roles to participate in LOUD in the ED. This includes people who work in emergency departments, people with lived and living experience of opioid use disorder, as well as people and organizations who support patients in community after ED discharge.
Do you have experience tackling challenges identified in the four workstreams? Are you passionate about co-developing new processes and resources that can accelerate improvement? Do you want to implement these changes to OUD care in your ED? Then join us!
