New Occupational Hazard Reporting Protocol Now Available

→ Read the Update

As part of Island Health's ongoing commitment to strengthening workplace safety and simplifying the associated reporting processes, the Health, Safety & Wellness and Ability Management (HSWAM) Program has launched the new Occupational Hazard Reporting Protocol (14-23 PRT) and updated our Occupational Hazard Reporting intranet page.

These resources provide clear guidance to employees and leaders on the reporting, assessment, and management of occupational hazards identified through the Patient Safety Learning System (PSLS).

The protocol outlines the roles, responsibilities, and actions required by leaders when they receive a PSLS report that identifies a risk to worker safety.  It also provides a structured process for ensuring hazards are assessed, addressed, and documented in a timely manner.  By following the protocol, leaders help ensure hazards are effectively managed, risks are mitigated, and both employee and patient safety are supported throughout Island Health.
