Movember: The Meaning Behind the Moustache
Movember is about much more than moustaches: it's about looking out for one another, breaking down stigma, and reminding the men in our lives that they don't have to face things alone.
The Meaning Behind the Moustache:
Although growing a moustache is a fun and recognizable part of Movember, the real goal is to get people talking about major health issues affecting men:
- Prostate and testicular cancer: Raising awareness, supporting research and testing/screening tools, and encouraging men to speak with their healthcare providers about their risk factors and what is normal for their bodies.
- Mental health: Encouraging men to open up about how they're feeling, create support networks with friends and family, and seek help from mental health professionals when things get challenging.
Movember aims to break down stigma and make it easier for men to have honest conversations about their physical and mental health.

There are plenty of ways to get involved in Movember!
- Grow a Mo: Whether it's a perfectly groomed handlebar or a patchy effort that deserves a participation award, it doesn't matter — grow a moustache and wear it proudly!
- Raise money: Donate to Movember or organise a fundraiser to help support men's health projects.
- Start a conversation: Check in on your friends, family and colleagues. Ask how they're doing and make space for an honest answer.
- Look after yourself: Make time for your physical and mental health, and don't be afraid to reach out for help when you need it.
- Spread the word: Share the message, encourage others to get involved and help keep men's health on the radar.
