Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) is an on-demand application that gives care providers easy access to a live, medically trained interpreter through video or audio in a matter of seconds. The Virtual Care team is working hard to make VRI available across Island Health by way of an iPad on a rolling stand or an app on Island Health issued iPhones.
Interpreting services are available at no cost for all Island Health programs. Use of interpreting services improves the quality and safety of patient care with more than 240 languages available, including American Sign Language (ASL).
Listed below are the go-live dates for large site VRI activations:
-
Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH) – April 18th
-
Victoria General Hospital (VGH) – April 19th
-
Comox Valley Hospital (CVH) – April 26th
-
Cowichan District Hospital (CDH) – April 27th
