The FBA and HEABC have ratified a four-year agreement for the period April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2029. FBA members voted 54% in favour of ratifying the agreement.
In early January, 2026 health authorities will receive implementation instructions from HEABC and will commence implementing the new FBA collective agreement.
The HEABC negotiates collective agreements with the bargaining associations on behalf of all provincial health authorities, including Island Health.
The FBA represents approximately 11,000 Island Health employees in 143 skilled health-care occupations. These employees include care aides, lab assistants, health records clerks, dietary and cleaning staff, nursing unit assistants, and trades and maintenance workers who provide support in hospital, long-term care, and other healthcare settings.
