The Choosing Wisely at Island Health Patient Centred Public Awareness Campaign is expanding and we’re inviting physicians and nurse practitioners to join us in co-developing new messaging that includes sustainability in healthcare.
This next phase of the campaign will explore low-value lab-testing and medication prescribing, helping to increase public awareness of tests that may not be necessary, communicate the importance of prescribing that aligns with patient goals, and introduce a planetary health lens to the conversation. We’ll be working together to create patient-facing messaging that supports mindful, informed healthcare decisions and highlights the broader impact of overuse.
Opportunity Details:
We are seeking providers to:
- Review Choosing Wisely Canada lab and pharmacy recommendations (materials provided).
- Help identify recommendations that would benefit from public education.
- Provide clinical insight into how we communicate these topics to the public—what's important, what's misunderstood, and what you wish more people knew.
- Physician compensation: Sessional payment of up to 5 hours at JCC rates is available for fully licensed SPs and FPs through Health System Redesign (HSR) Funding.
Timeline & Commitment
- Phase 1 – 2 hours: mid-June to August – Flexible timing.
- Phase 2 – 3 hours: September to November
