The Community Bargaining Association (CBA) announced on November 27, 2025 that their members have voted 92.3 per cent in favour of a strike mandate in support of their negotiations for a renewed collective agreement. The CBA also announced their intent to return to the bargaining table now that the strike mandate is confirmed. Accordingly, strike notice has not been served to the health sector at this time.

The strike vote occurred after the CBA announced an impasse at the bargaining table on October 3, 2025 followed by a strike vote beginning November 3, 2025.

The Health Employers’ Association of BC (HEABC) negotiates collective agreements with the bargaining associations on behalf of all provincial health authorities, including Island Health.

The CBA represents approximately 5,000 Island Health employees who provide support in community health, mental health, public health and home support, among others.
