On behalf of: Regional Clinical Nurse Educator
We are pleased to welcome two new Rights Advisors from the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Morgan and Marina. They will partner with Island Health teams to provide independent rights information and support to individuals receiving involuntary treatment under the Mental Health Act.
Although not Island Health employees, both Morgan and Marina will work closely with teams across the region in their roles as independent Rights Advisors.
When a Form 13.1 is completed, offering the Independent Rights Advice Service (IRAS) is mandatory. If the individual accepts the offer while in a facility, a Form 22 is completed and entered on the IRAS portal. A meeting will then be scheduled with one of the two advisors.
Please join us in welcoming Morgan and Marina as valued CMHA partners in this important work.
