The Collaborative Emergency Response Transport (CERT) team provides inter-facility transport of any patient that requires more than a BLS BCEHS scope of practice. This allows base site RNs to stay at the bedside, and does not empty our sites of RNs for transport.

The CERT team has three main base sites: RJH/VGH, NRGH and CVH. There is 24/7 day-shift coverage at all sites, and on-call night shift coverage by our casual team.  When not out on transport, the CERT team provides critical care site support with the ability to flex to the areas with the greatest need at any given time.

One of the goals of the CERT team this year has been to increase our supports to the rural sites within Island Health. The CERT team has had the pleasure to travel to many of our rural sites in the past few months and meet with their team members to put in place both virtual and in person support guidelines.  We continue to work with these teams and hope to provide ongoing education  and support with a specific focus on transport and the unique logistics that these rural sites face.

This new document outlines some of the ways in which the CERT team can support our rural sites, not only from our CERT RNs, but also from our CERT Transport Advisor (TA) Physicians that provide our team with medical oversight: Image removed.CERT - Rural Site Support Guide.pdf

As always, the CERT team can support any site, whether rural or tertiary.
