On behalf of the Government of BC
The Province is inviting all health sector workers to register with the BC Emergency Health Provider Registry (EHPR), an online system that supports the voluntary deployment of healthcare professionals during emergencies such as wildfires, floods and pandemics.
As part of BC's coordinated emergency response, Island Health staff, medical staff and students who are registered to help may be contacted on short notice to support communities across the province.
WHY REGISTER?
By joining the EHPR, you can play a vital role in responding to emergencies and supporting patients and communities when they need it most.
- Participation is completely voluntary.
- Registration does not obligate you to accept a deployment.
- Being registered does not guarantee you will be contacted (deployments depend on specific needs).
If you haven't yet signed up and are open to supporting emergency response efforts, we encourage you to register.
ALREADY REGISTERED?
You will receive an email asking you to:
- Confirm your continued interest.
- Update your information through a quick web form.
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS
- Discuss registration with your supervisor before signing up.
- All deployments require leader/manager approval and may depend on operational needs.
- Leaders are encouraged to support participation where feasible.
The EHPR may be used by health authorities, Providence Health Care, Health Match BC, and the Ministry of Health when additional support is needed.
WHO CAN REGISTER?
Health sector workers and students (including resident physicians and employed student nurses) are all encouraged to sign up.
For more information, including FAQs, visit the Ministry of Health's Health Provider Registry for BC's Emergency Response webpage.
Thank you for your continued dedication to patient care, and for considering how you can support communities across BC in times of need.
