Unresolved Indigenous-specific racism, discrimination and racial bias continue to make many of our workplaces unsafe.

Staff who complete the Indigenous-specific anti-racism training are better able to recognize and report racism in the workplace to protect themselves and their colleagues.

Island Health is committed to creating a culture of safety and wellness for all staff and medical staff, as well as improving Indigenous employee experience (Outcome Goal 4).

That’s why we launched required training, Working Together as One, which provides tools to address and report Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination. The training supports staff, medical staff, leaders, contracted health-care staff, students and volunteers to meet their obligations under the Indigenous-Specific Anti-Racism and Discrimination Policy.

This training is one step to help create a safe, respectful and welcoming workplace for everyone.
