Staff Clinics continue to be held in acute sites across the island until November 3. With the demand for immunization high in the community, Island Health encourages all staff, medical staff, students and volunteers to make use of the Staff Clinic nearest to them – where attendees have the option to receive either a flu shot or COVID-19 shot, or both at the same time. Many sites are currently experiencing little to no wait times.

Immunization remains the single best way to prevent the transmission and spread of influenza and COVID-19. This year, all health-care workers, volunteers, contractors and visitors are required to wear medical masks in areas where patients/clients/residents receive care – regardless of vaccine history – as declared in a Public Health Order effective October 3, 2023. This applies in all care settings, including acute, long-term care, community and out-patient settings.

Island Health employees are required to declare their vaccination status. If you have questions regarding influenza/COVID-19 vaccines and your vaccination options, please access the Flu Vaccine webpage, visit Immunize BC, reach out to your leader, or contact the Employee Health Advisor team in Health, Wellness, Safety & Ability Management at EHN-OHS@IslandHealth.ca.

Reporting of vaccination status remains mandatory under the provincial influenza policy. Reporting your influenza vaccination status is fast and easy. Click here: https://flu.healthcarebc.ca/#instructions.
