Transparency and Communications Steering Committee—Member Callout

Membership Opportunity: One medical staff member is being sought to join the Transparency and Communications steering committee.

Background: The Committee is comprised of physicians, corporate communications leadership, MSA executives, and members of MAA’s Partnerships and Communication portfolio.

The Transparency and Communications steering committee is a subgroup of the Island HAMSA (Health Authority Medical Staff Association) Executive Committee (HEC). The Transparency & Communications steering committee was formed out of recommendations from HAMSA to address feedback raised by MSAs regarding communication from Island Health to medical staff.

Why Join? Members can help influence culture change at Island Health through co-developed solutions that seek to embed transparent practices. The Committee is integral to the projects and improvement initiatives related to the Doctors of BC survey results. 

Physician Compensation: Physician Committee members are compensated for their time at the Doctors of BC honoraria rate through though regional Facility Engagement Initiative funding.

Time Commitment: Attendance at one bi-monthly 90-minute meeting for 12+ months is expected. Meetings will be held virtually, with the option for an ad hoc in-person meeting.
