The Our Health, Our Community survey launched late last month and is still looking to hear from thousands of residents of the Cowichan Valley.
Funded by Island Health's Community Wellness Grant and from Population and Public Health generally, and partnering with the Our Cowichan Communities Health Network, the survey aims to collect local data from at least 4,500 adults.
Outreach teams are out and about in the Cowichan Valley sharing the survey, particularly trying to connect with harder to reach populations.
Anonymized survey data will help provide important information to help Island Health, and partners, decision-makers and service providers, better understand the region's health and wellness needs and priorities.
To ensure a good representation of the community, the project team is implementing additional strategies to reach under-represented populations, including but not limited to:
- Males aged 19-40
- Seniors (specifically 75+ years)
- Those without a high school education
- Those with an annual household income <$20,000
- Unhoused community members
- Sexually and gender-diverse community members
Take the survey today or share with your clients/patients/friends/family if they live in Cowichan Valley.
