RJH and VGH go live with Cerner CareAware Capacity Management (CCM) on Friday June 24, 2022
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
On Friday, June 24, Cerner CareAware Capacity Management (CCM) will replace TeleTracking (TxT) as the patient flow system at RJH and VGH. CCM works with other Cerner applications as part of the electronic health record (EHR) at Island Health.
CCM will improve quality of patient care by providing greater transparency of patient flow and medical device location tracking. It will also provide real-time updates of portering and housekeeping status.
Once implemented, clinical staff will no longer use the phone to request patient and materiel portering services. Instead, these requests will be entered directly into CCM.

This change affects everyone who is a current user of TeleTracking and/or uses materiel portering services at RJH and VGH, including:

BENEFITS OF CERNER CAREAWARE CAPACITY MANAGEMENT
Cerner CareAware Capacity Management:
- Is integrated with existing Cerner Applications
- Allows for greater transparency into patient flow activities through:
- Providing the ability to see bed activity throughout the entire hospital
- Facilitating patient admissions, bed assignments, transfers and bed swaps
- Facilitating patient and equipment transport requests
- Providing feedback and metrics for environmental and logistic services
- Assists in making patient access decisions in real-time, with up to date hospital wide activity information
- Reduces the need for phone calls to communicate patient moves
WHAT SUPPORT YOU CAN EXPECT
We are going live on June 24, 2022 in support of RJH Housekeeping Repatriation. Our next steps will include readiness surveys, workflow sessions, training, and skills sharpeners starting mid-May and leading up to the go-live date. More details will be sent about these preparations through your unit leadership.
To support training completion and readiness, a variety of supports will be available both leading up to and during go-live. These include:
- eLearning modules and in-person classes
- On-site engagement labs
- During go-live, a drop-in support centre to reinforce training and ask questions
- Elbow-to-elbow support from rounding project team members during go-live
- A 24/7 support phone line
