At Island Health, we stand firmly in our commitment to fostering an environment where every voice is valued, and every individual is respected – in line with our organizational Vision and C.A.R.E Values. Together, we can create a community of care, resilience and understanding. Over the past year, we have created safe spaces for employees belonging to equity deserving groups.

We currently have two active Employee Resource Groups – one for Indigenous, Black and People of Colour (IBPOC) and another for those who identify with the 2SLGTQIA+ community. Additionally, this year we will be creating an Employee Resource Group for employees with disabilities.  The purpose of the groups is to provide a space for employees belonging to equity deserving communities to discuss their experiences and influence organizational change.

Staff and medical staff, across all professional disciplines are invited to join groups they identify with. Meetings are every 4 to 6 weeks for 1 hour, via Microsoft Teams video conferencing. We ask Managers, Supervisors and Leadership to do their best to support staff to attend.

If you are interested in being part of these groups, please email DEI@islandhealth.ca, indicating your interest and we will send you an invitation to the next meeting.
