Meet Dr. Zaneta Lim, MD, FRCPC
Clinical Instructor, Department of Pediatrics, UBC & BCCH 
The opportunity to affect life-long change in a family's life by empowering them when they feel most vulnerable.
Dr Lim has recently joined the Nanaimo Pediatrics group. She’s already making a positive impact not only in the Nanaimo community but also across the Island by bringing her enthusiasm and expertise to help strengthen our regional ACoRN Instructor team (Acute Care of at-Risk Newborns | Canadian Paediatric Society (cps.ca)
Role within the organization:
General pediatrician working in rural, remote, semi-urban centres both in hospital and community clinics.
Proudest accomplishment to date:
Working as a rural/remote pediatrician for seven years in Terrace British Columbia.
Inspiration to become a doctor and pursue research:
It was the thought of becoming a pediatrician that made me want to be a doctor. I couldn't think of a more universal and meaningful way to affect change in the lives of others than by working with children. It doesn't matter what language you speak, what culture you are from, what religion you follow, the fundamental desire to keep children healthy and safe is unquestionable.
In my early medical school days, I did research with Dr. Sanatani and the Cardiology Department at Children's hospital. I learned so much, including my biggest takeaway, which was the sheer admirable amount of time, energy, and dedication it took to be a successful clinician and researcher.
Research affiliations and research interests:
Overtime, I have not continued research but have found a place in Quality Improvement work. I am most attracted to the model's ability to change practice in real time based on results from a small cohort over a small amount of time. Moreover, it is sustainable work within my current capacity as a practicing community pediatrician.
